Me vs. God - Arm Wrestling with the big man

My friend bill told me the other day at work that he is amazed at how far I go to try to offer a hand of help to someone. I thought to myself “stay humble Jesiah, stay humble” and accepted what he said with no thought at all. I went on with my day and forgot about the whole conversation.

I tend to find my mind wandering while in my car commuting to and from work.
That conversation popped back into my head and I really considered what he said.
I've come to the conclusion that I only choose to help people when it comes to something that I know I'm good at.
For instance I passed a guy changing a flat tire on the parkway, I thought I should have stopped but then I thought well he was already doing it and probably knows just as much if not more about changing the flat on his own car than me.

The truth is that I don't generally go out of my way to help someone unless I feel I have expertise in that area in need of help. Frankly I rely on myself!

How can you put your trust in God if you rely on yourself?

'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,'
says the LORD Almighty (Zechariah 4:6).

Could we be capable of so much and yet we fail to see it because of our fear and doubt?

An angel of the Lord came to Zechariah telling him something that seemed impossible in his own power. The Angel basically went on to explain that only through the Holy Spirit could he complete this task of rebuilding the temple.

Just maybe we should step out and help someone with something that we're not experts on.
Trusting in the Holy Spirit to lead you is key in your relationship with God.

It's time for us to rely on God to make us strong.

Don't you agree?

I totally agree Jesiah.

One of my favorite quotes that I have heard in recent years is...

"Taking action means taking risks, but God moves when we take action."

So many times we don't help people or move forward because we know we are incapable. Which we defiantly are.

It's when we step out in faith and trust in God, He moves through us on His behalf to finish the work which He has set forth for us to accomplish.

Brothers & Sisters... No longer shall we be afraid, no longer shall we sit back and watch the world pass us by... it's time to step out..

For when we step out in faith we will realize that God is already there ahead of us every step of the way.
